CFS/ME and the devastating effect it can have on life

Perrin technique in London

Whether you lead a very active life, have a demanding job or are enjoying a relaxed lifestyle, tiredness and lethargy may trouble you from time to time. If this coincides with headaches and your energy levels are severely affected, so much that it is beginning to prevent you from being able to carry out your daily activities, then it is important that you seek medical attention.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), which is also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or collectively as CFS/ME, is a complex chronic illness which can have devastating effects on life. It can occur at any age, from young children to the elderly and can happen to anyone from any walk of life. CFS/ME is caused by the building up of toxins in the nervous system, because of an abnormality in the functioning of the lymphatic system to drain toxins from the cerebrospinal fluid which runs through the brain and spine. This leads to disorders of the nervous system beginning with headaches and lethargy, dizziness, confusion and lack of coordination, progressing to severe post-exertional malaise, which can prevent you from carrying out any of your daily activities at all.

Dr Perrin’s research

Previously CFS/ME could not be pinpointed by doctors because there is no universally recognised definition, cause, diagnosis or treatment for the disease. In 1989 osteopath Dr Raymond Perrin, improved a patient’s CFS/ME by treating his postural mechanics in the treatment of back pain. Since then, Dr Perrin has carried out much research and found that most of the patients who visited the osteopath and complained of CFS/ME were found to have spinal cord abnormalities and abnormalities in their thoracic spine (dorsal spine), which were presenting as flattened or rigid rather than healthy and curved. This led to the introduction of the therapy which is known as the Perrin technique in London.

The Perrin technique in London

The Perrin technique involves specialised massage of the head, neck and back, and lymphatic massage has been found to help alleviate symptoms of spinal disorders such as back pain, but also reduce and improve the symptoms of CFS/ME.

The Perrin technique in London is based on the principle that toxins within the cerebrospinal fluid are not draining away as they should be and that lymphatic massage promotes better lymphatic drainage of these toxins, thereby reducing the effects these toxins have on the nervous system which results in the devastating effects of the disease.
