Manual Lymphatic Drainage in London
What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, light-pressure massage technique designed to support lymphatic circulation while promoting relaxation and comfort. The lymphatic system plays a vital role in maintaining fluid balance, supporting immune health, and assisting with the removal of metabolic waste products from tissues. When lymph flow becomes sluggish—for example following illness, surgery, inflammation, or prolonged inactivity—symptoms such as swelling, heaviness, or a feeling of congestion may occur.
Anna is currently studying Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, recognising the importance of healthy lymphatic flow in supporting immune function, detoxification, post-surgical recovery, swelling (oedema), sinus or facial puffiness, inflammation reduction, and overall vitality. Lymphatic drainage therapy (often referred to as Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD) uses gentle, rhythmic, hands-on techniques to encourage the movement of lymph fluid through the lymphatic system in a safe and restorative way.

What happens during a session?
During an MLD session, very light, rhythmic pumping movements are applied to the skin to guide lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes. The pressure used is much lighter than that of deep tissue massage and is often described as soothing and deeply relaxing—more like a gentle caress than a massage. Most patients find sessions calming and restorative.
By integrating reflexology with lymphatic-focused techniques, Anna offers a whole-body approach that supports balance, wellbeing, and long-term health. All treatments are delivered by a therapist trained in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and lymphatic drainage, ensuring care is provided in a safe, gentle, and informed manner.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage may be beneficial as a supportive therapy for individuals experiencing:
-
Mild fluid retention
-
Post-exercise recovery
-
Feelings of heaviness or puffiness
Post-surgical wellbeing support (with appropriate medical clearance) -
Stress-related tension
All therapies offered are complementary and intended to support relaxation and general wellbeing. They do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical conditions and should not replace medical advice or care.
