Perrin Technique in London

Whether you work in the medical profession or not, it is likely that you have heard of a condition known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

Frequently diagnosed across the globe, this syndrome can cause patients who suffer from it to experience the symptoms of poor sleep, daytime fatigue, headaches and even muscular pain. Of course, many patients choose to simply take an over-the-counter painkiller and move on with their day-to-day routines, but given enough time, these issues can prove to be devastating to overall functioning.

With an unknown cause, many practitioners are unable to cure the associated symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome.

If you have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, there may be a way to relieve your symptoms without medication.

Devised by Dr Ray Perrin, the Perrin Technique in London is a form of osteopathy that can relieve associated symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome, by allowing your lymph nodes to drain accumulated toxins away from your brain and spinal cord. A painless procedure that can increase your vitality, many patients who have a diagnosis of CFS have noticed an improvement after treatment with Rakhee Mediratta at our practice and you could too!

Want to know more? Of course, you do! Here, we have answered the top 5 FAQs about the Perrin Technique in London.

How do the toxins associated with CFS accumulate?

It is theorised by Dr Ray Perrin that the toxins linked to chronic fatigue syndrome accumulate due to issues with lymphatic drainage.

The toxins themselves are caused by everyday stressors such as work, family and finances and, while a person who does not have CFS can drain them successfully away from the brain and spinal cord, those who have chronic fatigue cannot.

The Perrin Technique in London uses gentle manipulation and massage to help the blocked lymph nodes to drain the toxins successfully.

How many appointments will I need to feel better?

Like many complementary treatments, the number of visits you will need will depend on your presentation.

Many patients who visit Rakhee Mediratta feel improvement after a few sessions but each person's response is different, as are recovery times.

Will the treatment be uncomfortable?

The technique involves gentle massage of soft tissues, so it should not be uncomfortable.

Be advised that for a few days post-treatment, the areas that were targeted may feel more tender or stiff than before.

Are there any side effects?

While many patients do not experience any side effects of this technique, you may notice a worsening of your CFS symptoms. This is nothing to be concerned about as your body should resolve this issue. If you notice no change in your symptoms after 2 days, contact our team for advice.

Should I stop taking my medication while undertaking the Perrin Technique?

In a word, no.

It is important that you continue to take all prescribed medications during the course of this technique. This treatment does not impact on any prescription or over-the-counter medications, though you may not require painkillers if you respond well to treatment.
