Improving your health and wellbeing with the Perrin technique

The Perrin Technique

First discovered in 1989, the Perrin technique was devised by Dr Raymond Perrin. A registered osteopath here in the UK, he was able to combat the effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS/ME using osteopathic massage techniques for lower back pain. Since then much research has been carried out by Dr Raymond Perrin and his fellow neuroscientists and osteopaths to learn more about CFS/ME. They have looked at the effects that specialist osteopathic techniques can have on this disease and on health and wellbeing in general. This has led to the establishment of a specialist osteopathic technique known as the Perrin technique.

The Perrin technique suggests that CFS/ME is a structural disorder, causing a wide array of debilitating symptoms related to sympathetic nerve disturbance and the build up of toxins in the body. The Perrin technique is designed to diagnose CFS/ME as well as to help manage the symptoms more efficiently for a better quality of life.

Diagnosing CFS/ME

If you have been diagnosed with CFS/ME or you are experiencing symptoms which are similar to that of CFS/ME then you need to speak to us at our practice today. We will provide a positive diagnosis for your symptoms by looking for specific factors which are indicative of CFS/ME. This consists of the identification of certain physical signs which are prevalent in patients with this disease, including over 6 months of chronic fatigue, tiredness and weakness. It includes an abnormal spinal posture, swelling of the lymph vessels and tenderness in certain areas of the body known as the Perrin's point in the chest area and around the abdomen. Physical signs also include an abnormal cranial rhythm which can be identified by specialist cranial osteopathic techniques.

Treatment sessions

The treatment itself is designed to help you manage the symptoms of CFS/ME more successfully so that you can begin to carry out your daily activities independently, manage the pain, improve your quality of sleep and slowly begin to get your life back on track once more. You will have regular appointments at the practice and which involve specialist osteopathic massage techniques of the head, neck, back and chest. The number of appointments that you will need and the frequency of these appointments will vary from patient to patient, depending on the severity of your symptoms. We will assess your recovery as we go along and adjust the treatment plan accordingly. Our team will also show you some self massage techniques which you can carry out at home or with the help of a loved one to help boost your recovery further. Speak to us at Rakhee Osteopathy today and book your initial consultation to find out more about the Perrin technique and how it has helped many patients since it was first discovered. Let us help you address your symptoms once and for all, and get your life back on track again very soon.
