What is the Perrin Technique?
The Perrin Technique is a specialist osteopathic technique which has been continuously developed over the last 30 years by Dr Raymond Perrin as a diagnostic tool and treatment approach for CFS / ME. The effectiveness of this approach has been tested in numerous clinical trials, most recently in an NHS trial and published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ Open) in November 2017.
What are the benefits of the Perrin Technique?
The Perrin Technique has also seen some benefit to patients suffering from ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, post-viral fatigue, long covid & Fibromyalgia due to similar systematic malfunctions occurring in their bodies. The Rakhee Mediratta Osteopathy is a licensed clinic, using The Perrin Technique as an osteopathic approach to treating people with these conditions. Rakhee Mediratta is an experienced Perrin Technique Practitioner; practising the technique since 2007 and is one of the longest standing and most experienced practitioners.
The Perrin Technique is based on Dr Perrin’s theory that different stress factors whether that be physical (through postural problems or injury), infectious (bacterial or viral), environmental (exposure to toxins or allergies), emotional stress (work or family) or more usually a combination of these which leads to an overload on the sympathetic nervous system. This in turn results in a build-up of toxins in the fluid around the brain and spinal cord. These toxins are supposed to drain down the spinal cord and into the lymphatic system where they leave our bodies via the liver but in people with CFS / ME and similar conditions the drainage points into the lymphatic system are blocked leading to the build-up of congested toxins. This accumulation of toxins can irritate the brain, spinal cord and surrounding tissues contributing to the wide ranges of symptoms associated with CFS / ME.
Rakhee has completed training courses with Dr Raymond Perrin at the University College of Osteopathy. She is now training fully qualified osteopaths and physiotherapists in The Perrin Technique; working alongside Dr Ray Perrin. If you are a qualified osteopath or physiotherapist interested in becoming a Perrin Practitioner or if you are a patient who is receiving treatment from an osteopath or a physiotherapist looking to train in The Perrin Technique, please get in touch for more details.
