The role of your osteopath in Chalfont for pain management

The Perrin Technique in London

If you are suffering from a musculoskeletal disorder or general aches and pains in your joints then you need to speak to our osteopath and find out how osteopathy can help you manage your symptoms more effectively. Even if you have spoken to your doctor or are taking medication for your aches and pains then you can still speak to our osteopath to manage the pain even more successfully. This will help your body cope more efficiently so that you can prevent further issues or complications in the future. Osteopathy can be used on its own or it can be used alongside conventional medication to help promote overall wellbeing and quality of life.

The initial appointment

Speak to us at Rakhee Osteopathy and book an appointment with our osteopath today. At your first appointment our osteopath will carry out a full medical questionnaire and find out your medical history. This will be very thorough and will include any accidents, injuries or falls you may have incurred in your life. It will include any surgeries you may have undergone, all underlying health conditions and the medication that you take. We will talk about your diet, measure your height and weight and check your BMI to make sure that it is in a good range. If you have any recent X-ray or scan results, we will also be very pleased to look at those too.

Next our osteopath will carry out a physical examination of your body. This will be a visual examination to begin with, where you will be asked to demonstrate simple movements or exercises and our osteopath will observe the motion of your body. Our osteopath will then use their hands to carry out a physical assessment of your spine and other affected areas of your body. They will check for any weakness, tenderness or pain upon touch. They will also check for any restriction or strain upon movement within the body. Sometimes our osteopath may feel that you need to be referred back to your GP. If this is the case then you will need to do this before you undergo any osteopathic techniques to make sure that we do not complicate your symptoms any further. This appointment with our osteopath will take between 45 minutes and an hour and we will use the information that we have acquired to help put together a treatment plan for you.

Osteopathic techniques

Once you are ready to begin osteopathy as part of your treatment or on its own you can book 30 minute sessions at regular intervals depending on your medical requirements and your personal preferences. Our osteopath will carry out a range of specialist techniques which will be chosen as part of an individually tailored treatment plan for you. Osteopathy includes different massage techniques to relax the muscles, stretching to combat stiffness and articulation of the joints to allow you to enjoy your natural range of motion. Together these techniques are designed to promote better blood flow, improve your mobility and reduce pain or help you manage your pain more successfully so that you can enjoy a better quality of life.

We also have the Perrin Technique in London which is tailored to help with extreme fatigue. This can be extremely useful for those suffering from long covid. The Perrin Technique in London discovered by Dr Perrin in 1989 concentrates on massaging the brain and spinal fluid. It aims to remove toxins in your circulatory system or muscles, in effect detoxifying your body.
