Success of the Perrin technique in reducing symptoms of CFS/ME and Long COVID

Long COVID

The Perrin technique in London was developed at the end of the 1980s by Dr Raymond Perrin, an osteopath and neuroscientist, who was treating a cyclist for lower back pain by improving his posture and applying osteopathic techniques. The cyclist was also suffering from symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS/ME. Whilst treating his back pain Dr Perrin inadvertently helped reduce the symptoms of CFS/ME and the cyclist found himself completely cured. This initiated many years of research into the diagnosis and treatment of CFS/ME and has led to the establishment of the Perrin technique in London to help reduce its symptoms. He

re at Rakhee Osteopathy we are proud practitioners of the Perrin technique in London. We have been practising this technique for over 13 years and have helped many patients on the road to recovery, getting them back on their feet.

What is CFS/ME?

CFS/ME is a devastating, multi systemic disorder which can affect people of any age and from all walks of life. It is thought to occur as a result of a build up of toxins which can include bacteria or a virus in the central nervous system, resulting in debilitating symptoms that can leave patients bed bound for many months or even several years. Initially the patient may present with flu-like symptoms and ignore the issue, attempting to carry on as usual. This progresses to tiredness, lethargy and fatigue which prevents them from continuing on with daily activities. Without medical attention symptoms can progress to lack of coordination and poor mobility. It can affect cognitive function as well, resulting in poor concentration, inability to think clearly and even me

mory loss. Unfortunately some patients over time eventually become wheelchair-bound or bed bound.

What is Long COVID?

Over the last year we have had many patients present with symptoms which are similar to that of CFS/ME that have developed following infection with COVID-19. Despite a full recovery from the virus, patients report symptoms of tiredness and fatigue which increase with exertion or exercise and prevent them from resuming their daily activities and getting back to their usual healthy self. Symptoms of Long COVID can also include a persistent cough, breathlessness and fatigue. Here at Rakhee Osteopathy we have been practicing the Perrin technique in London over the last year to help patients who are suffering from Long COVID to reduce their symptoms. Speak to us today about your symptoms and let us put together a treatment plan designed to reduce and combat your symptoms to get your life back on track again.
